FOIA Requests

The Ingham County 911 Center follows the requirements under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Records held by the Center are limited to the following:

  • Recordings of phone calls made to the 911 Center for the past year.
  • Radio traffic between the 911 Center and Police/Fire/EMS agencies for the past year.
  • Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) reports showing the text record of a call for service.
  • Limited statistics regarding 911 Center activities.

Please note: the Ingham County 911 Center does not have police reports. You must contact the responding agency for their reports.

Requests should be submitted through the Ingham County FOIA Center.  Please be as detailed as possible in your request.  Include specific dates, times, locations, and what the incident was regarding. There is a cost to receive a FOIA request.  The current labor cost to locate and duplicate records held at the Ingham County 911 Center starts at $22.99 per hour.  Keep in mind that Ingham County/911 Center has five business days to respond to your request under FOIA.  We cannot accommodate same day FOIA requests.

The Ingham County 911 Center does not have police reports for any incidents.  To obtain police reports, you must contact the responding agency directly.

The 911 Center does not  make transcripts of 911 recordings.
